Hey guys, it’s been a solid two weeks since our last episode of Friday Five because we decided to make this a bi-monthly effort! That way we can highlight more important things and not be so overwhelmed with trying to scrape the bottom of the barrel. All that out of the way, let’s go ahead and jump in.
I know I probably sound like a broken record talking about Southwest on here, but now that the schedule opened up until January 6th, it’s a good idea to go out and book your holiday flights. Even if those flights are just placeholders, Thanksgiving and Christmas prices skyrocket fast. I booked on the day after the schedule opened up, and had to settle for some weird times and more expensive routes. Southwest has no change fees, so if you need to make a switch later on, no harm no foul.
Amazon TV Cube
If you are interested in making your home a little smarter and don’t have time to go back to school or marry a genius (jokes), Amazon is taking pre-orders for their new TV Cube. Right now you can save 25% or $30 on this device, which is basically a remote and smart tv interface that you can talk to. It also supports 4K video, so sports will look awesome in it (provided you have a 4k TV which… you probably don’t).
Phone Plan update
Today Sprint just released a new deal called the Unlimited Kickstarter. For new lines, you get unlimited data, talk and text for just $15 a month, which is far and away the cheapest unlimited plan I’ve ever seen. From what I can tell, once you have it, this deal will last at least a year and maybe longer. I might have to check this out! Speaking of…
Tello Wireless switch
This morning I switched from Sprint to Tello Mobile, which you can read more about here. Our total monthly cost for 1 GB of data each is $28.08 – not a bad deal, but it definitely doesn’t look as good in light of the new Sprint deal. However, that was just available for new customers… which I would now be, since my phone is ported to another carrier. So maybe, just maybe, I’ll look into porting it back to Sprint to jump on this Unlimited deal. It’ll cost me a couple dollars extra a month, but for unlimited I think it’d be worth the plunge.
But as far as the Tello switch, it was as painless as possible. I punched in some numbers, like my EIN and my SIM card number and voila – I was ported over in less than 15 minutes, and there was no silly SIM card or activation costs. Since I was already on Sprint, nothing changed operationally – as far as I can tell, service and quality are the same… which, to be fair, isn’t the best but hey. $28.08.
Anyways, if you want to switch to Tello and snag a $10 coupon, use my referral code: P3RCCJ8N. And you also want 30% off? Promo code 30NEW will get that done for you. Happy shopping!
House Reno update
Check out our Instagram Stories for some up close looks at our driveway reno (which is mostly done) and we’ve now moved inside with the summer heat to work on the bathroom. We will try to do a better job with general stories and updates about this, but for now, I’ve gotta get the rest of the bathroom ripped out. Sarah’s parents are coming in 3 weeks, and I’d prefer to not share our bathroom with them 🙂
The Simple Summary
That’s all for this week, are there any sweet deals you found that I missed? Let me know below, and be sure and check out our phone plan overview to save some serious cash on that annoying monthly bill!
