Why Simply Well Spent and where did this come from? Well, honestly, it just kind of happened one day (although Sarah had totally mentioned to Ian before how he should start a money/credit card blog, he just had to realize it on his own terms). We were sitting next to the fire on a cold day and out of the blue Ian mentioned: “I think I want to start a blog”. From there, it just snowballed. It went through a couple different versions to get to its current form, which is a finance, travel and lifestyle blog all rolled into one. These are the three areas that we find passions in, which is why they fit so well together and as a part of Simply Well Spent.
Starting a blog wasn’t really on either of our minds 6 months ago, but we have really loved the time and effort that we have been able to put into this together. Simply Well Spent was born out of an initial concept of being “well spent” in our time, money and life. You know, the saying, “Man, that was a well spent $10” or “Yesterday with you was time well spent”. We both really warmed up to that idea, and “simply” just kind of happened as a natural addition. It really spoke to us, in this current climate of chaos and technology, of how we want to aspire to live: Simply Well Spent. We really didn’t intend to get all sappy with it, but we both knew that the name of the blog was something that just needed to fit, and we think we hit the nail on the head.
So, with all that fun background in mind, let’s take a look at where we see this going for each blog category:
This one is pretty self-explanatory. Ian is kind of obsessed – sorry, let’s use a nicer word – passionate about money saving in all the different ways. From low-key grocery shopping (what’s up, Aldi!) to sweet thrift store finds, to actual finance things like budgeting and credit card points, he is always looking for ways to make that dollar simply well spent (get it?!). You can be looking for some great posts coming your way about how we travel cheaply, the different tools and tricks we use to save money and alllllll the credit card insights.
Travel is kinda where we meet in the middle – Ian digs the deal finding/getting us there part of traveling and Sarah is all about the details. We work pretty well together in this way, so expect to get some great posts about the financial details behind how we get to different places so affordably, and then some great travel-centric posts about the how/what/where of what we are doing.
We are still figuring this one out a little bit, but a number of non-travel related money saving tips or life hacks just fit so perfectly into here, and we can’t wait to see where this category takes us!
The Simple Summary
Simply Well Spent is something that we both feel strongly about and we are excited to dive into the blogosphere. At the end of the day, we wanted this blog to be something we do together, so we can’t wait to start telling our stories on here and hopefully bring you all along for the ride!
